Majid Abdullah, the captain of the Saudi national team at the 1994 World Cup, said that he had problems in the training camp leading up to the competition and revealed that he had to leave the Netherlands game because he was unable to continue.
Majid Abdullah stated on the “goal” show that he was having pain at the camp due to his injury and was unsure if he would be able to compete in the 1994 World Cup.

Many people were surprised when I left the Netherlands game two minutes before the end of the first half, but the truth is that I was injured and could not have continued.

Majid commented on the harsh 5-1 defeat suffered by the Saudi national team in a friendly match with Greece: “It was a sudden and painful defeat, and at that time a call from King Fahd asks me about coach Jorge Solari, and I assure him that the coach is excellent and the goals we received are the result of individual mistakes.”
