Courtois: The Yashin Award was invented to win the satisfaction of the guards

Thibaut Courtois, a professional goalkeeper for Belgium, holds the opinion that the “Yashin” award for the best goalkeeper in the world was created to appease goalkeepers after he finished seventh in the Golden Ball race for the best player in the world, and retired Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas shared this opinion.
Frenchman Karim Benzema, Cortua Fellow at Real Madrid, won the Golden Boot Award for Best Player in the World by the French magazine “France Football” on Monday in Paris.

In addition to helping Real Madrid win the Spanish League and Champions League last season with 44 goals in 46 games, Benzema also twice won the Hattrick title, which coincided with his ten goals in the continental championship’s elimination rounds. Courtois acknowledged that Benzema deserves the award.

According to the international “Opta” network, which specialises in football statistics, Courtois also played a part in this accomplishment since he made a record nine tackles against Liverpool in the final game.
The Yashin Award, given to the world’s greatest goalkeeper, was won by Courtois over Liverpool’s Brazilian goalie, although he believes that he deserved to be higher up in the Golden Ball final rankings.

“First of all, let me say that I am really pleased with Karim Benzema.
“I had no chance to finish the race in a very high place, or win, of course. It seems that attaining the goal is better than addressing it; it is a continuous battle in view of the logic of voting.”
“I do not say that I had to win it, but we won the Spanish League and the Champions League, your team won thanks to your conflicts, and you are in the seventh place only, until you did not go up to the podium.

Courtois finished by adding, “At least this year they established an award for the best guard. In the list of the first ten places, there are no cannons.
