German cybersecurity chief out after reports of Russia ties

A/P BERLIN — According to suspicions of potential connections to Russian intelligence, the head of Germany’s national cybersecurity agency has been fired, the Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, Arne Schoenbohm was fired as the head of the BSI agency by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, according to German news agency dpa.
A decade ago, Schoenbohm co-founded a cybersecurity organisation that brings together professionals from both the public and private sectors.

One of its members, according to German media, is a business started by a former Russian intelligence agent.
More than a week ago, the German government declared that it was thoroughly looking into the reports.
