INTERVIEW: Blood supply is in short supply

Wisconsin’s Green Bay (WBAY) Like a gas tank, the nation’s blood supply needs to be refilled on a regular basis. The American Red Cross reports a worrying decline in blood and platelet donations this summer.
In order to avoid a blood shortage in August, officials are hoping that more people would make appointments to donate blood.

Steve Hansen of the local Red Cross chapter discusses the current state of the blood supply, the times of year when it is more difficult to keep a sufficient supply of blood available, and the many ways blood donations help.
