Kremlin: The lands of Ukraine are protected by Russian nuclear weapons

The four Ukrainian districts (Donetsk, Logansk, Khairsson, and Zaburigia) that Russia annexed weeks before Ukraine are totally under the protection of the Russian nuclear weapons, according to the Kremlin on Tuesday.
“These lands are parts that are not extracted from the Russian Federation . . . and they have the same level of insurance, just as the rest of the Russian territory,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in connection with reporters, according to Reuters.

After holding what it referred to as referendums in Ukraine’s seized regions, Russia announced the annexation last month. Voting is illegal, was forced, and doesn’t represent locals in those areas, according to Kiev and Western countries.
The Russian forces control only about 60% of the Donetsk region and 70% of Zaburigia, and the progress of the Ukrainian forces in recent times redraw the fighting lines in Logansk, which was fully controlled by Russian forces last July.

Although Ukraine promised to restore all the captured regions, Moscow regarded the annexation as a “restoration” of lands that were formerly a part of the Russian Empire.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who pledged to defend his “homeland and values”, accused the United States and its allies of waging war in all ways against Russia and against the separatist departments that support it in eastern Ukraine..

The Kremlin claims that Russian nuclear weapons are defending the Ukrainian lands.
