On Monday, Canada declared that it had placed penalties on the media, journalists, and Russian officials due to their “complicity in media deception,” which Canada accused Moscow of engaging in during its conflict in Ukraine.
“Lies and deception are the cornerstones of the Russian regime’s campaign.”
“While the number of human rights violations that Russia is committing is continuing, Canada is taking measures to confront propaganda trying to justify these violations,” she added.
The Russian Ministry of Defense and TV broadcaster Dmitry Victorovic Gopronev own the TV channel “Zezda,” which was the focus of the penalties, according to the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The sanctions also targeted Vladimir McCkov, one of the acting stars in Russia and one of the most supportive supporters of President Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine.
Canada has imposed restrictions on more than 1,400 people and entities that are presently present in Russia, Belarus, or Ukraine or who are descended from these nations since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.
To hinder the Russian economy and have an impact on the wealthiest individuals in the nation, it imposed sanctions on a wide range of wealthy individuals and Russian authorities.
For this reason, Canada puts sanctions on the media, journalists, and Russian representatives.
