United Nations: The situation in Ethiopia is out of control

According to Sky News in an urgent news report via its official account on the microblogging website “Twitter,” United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that the situation in Ethiopia is out of control and demanded an immediate evacuation of Eritrea.

In a statement released on Saturday, Guterres reiterated the UN’s commitment to supporting the urgent call for talks to lead to a permanent political settlement. He also called for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Tigray and expressed his deep concern about the fighting there, which has a significant negative impact on the helpless civilians who are being targeted under the humanitarian designation.

The peace negotiations suggested by the African Union earlier this month were delayed due to logistical concerns.
Due to the continuous conflict in northern Ethiopia, hundreds of thousands have been forced to flee Tigray as well as the nearby Amhara and Afar provinces, and it is estimated that tens of thousands have died.
