Red Cross: We are ready to visit the prisoners of war in Donetsk when allowing us

According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, a team of 11 workers, including a doctor, is prepared to visit any prisoners of war imprisoned in the area, including Olinifka Criminal Prison, in the Ukrainian Donetsk region.

The Red Cross stated on its official website, yesterday evening, Sunday, that the team’s mission is to verify the conditions of the detention and treatment that is provided to them, to provide basic supplies, and to ensure that the prisoners of war can contact their families.
The extensive conflicts currently taking place in the region, the international group noted, “highlight the hazards inherent in this endeavour and the difficulty of its execution.


Our crew has been prepared for months, but as of right now, neither the required local authorization for the visit nor the necessary minimal security guarantees are in place. ”
According to the third Geneva Convention, the Red Cross stated, the war captives have the right to routine visits from its representatives.
According to him, when you visit prisoners of war in any armed situation, you give them and their families a way to stay in touch on an emotional level.

He continued by saying that he offers ongoing basic care, such as medical aid.

Red Cross: When circumstances permit, we are prepared to visit the Donetsk prisoners of war.
