News from Al-Madinah: A Russian official was quoted by the Russian news agency “TASS” as claiming late on Sunday night that 20 radicals, including those responsible for the bombing of a soldier’s bus, were killed by Russian and Syrian forces during an operation in southern Syria.
The operation took occurred in southern Syria’s Daraa Governorate, per “TAS” from General Oleg Igorov.
In a press release, Igorov stated that an unique operation was carried out in the southern Syrian town of Jassim to “liquidate the ISIS terrorist warriors.” The Russian group concerned with engaging with the security units of the Syrian Armed Forces.
According to TASS, the fighters took part in the bus explosion last week that killed at least 18 Syrian soldiers close to Damascus.
Igorov claims that the bus attack’s mastermind and several individuals connected to ISIS operations in Daraa and the Al-Raqqa Governorate are among those killed in the operation.
One of the recent brutal strikes that have been made against the Syrian army for months was the bus attack.
Notably, Russian military have been present in Syria since 2015.
