Kyiv wakes to explosions as new Russian strikes reported

Explosions have awakened Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, as more Russian strikes are being reported this morning (local time).
Around 4.50 PM New Zealand time, tweets about the explosions started to appear.
A smaller explosion was heard by many, then a greater boom.
Since then more explosions have been reported along with Kyiv launching air defence measures which can be heard crackling above the city.

Some claim that air raid sirens caused people to hastily retreat to air raid shelters.
It happens a week after Russia barraged Kyiv with missiles in what appeared to be retaliation for an attack on the Crimean bridge by Ukrainian soldiers.
At this time, it is unknown what weapons were employed in the most recent attack.
Late last week Iranian-made kamikaze drones were used to strike the area around Kyiv..

Explosions may be heard in Kyiv as further Russian strikes are reported.
