The Saudi monarch: Iran must fulfill its nuclear obligations

King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia emphasised that the foundation of global peace and security is not achieved by an arms race or the ownership of WMDs, but rather through international cooperation to advance development. He urged Iran to “fulfil its nuclear duties.”

“King Salman bin Abdulaziz urged the international community to intensify and double efforts in a way to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction and ensure that the Middle East is free from such weapons during the work of the third year of the eighth session of the Shura Council on Sunday evening- through visual contact- in the presence of the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Muhammad bin Salman.

The Saudi king urged Iran to “fulfil its nuclear duties, fully cooperate with the World Atomic Energy Agency, and take substantial steps to create trust between it and its neighbours and the international community” in his speech.

On the other hand, he added, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is striving to ensure the immunity of the three pillars of the world of energy combined, namely (the security of the essential energy supplies, the continuous economic development by offering dependable energy sources, and facing climate change).
