Sisi meets with Siemens’ chairman to discuss green energy projects

CAIRO – 16 October 2022: As Egypt works to establish itself as a regional hub for the production and interchange of new and renewable energy, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Joe Kaiser, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens, on Sunday to explore collaboration in green energy projects.

Sisi praised Siemens’ accomplishments in power plant development projects in Egypt and expressed his eagerness for further collaboration in the fields of new and renewable energy, electrical interconnection projects, and the professionalisation of Egyptian cadres in a way that upholds German standards of high production quality and performance.

For his part, Joe Kaiser praised Egypt’s cooperation with Siemens, most notably the three modern Siemens power plants, which have become the backbone of the Egyptian power grid. According to Kaiser, Siemens views them as one of the most important emblems in the history of the business’ operations since its founding.

Kaiser said Siemens shares the aspiration to develop the existing partnership with Egypt, especially in the fields of new and renewable energy, especially with the tangible achievements made in Egypt in the area of infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Engineer Laila El Haris, Managing Director of Siemens Energy in Egypt, Christian Bruch, CEO of Siemens Energy, and Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy.
