Anger in Libya after a local football team was poisoned before a match in Tanzania

The players of the “Libyan Green” football team were to poison, by consuming a narcotic substance while eating dinner at their residence in the state of Tanzania, in an incident that caused a widespread condemnation in Libya.
This occurred just before the second leg of the preliminary round match against Azzam Al-Tanzani in the Confederation of African Football Championship.

The event happened after the training exercise and when the Libyan club arrived at the home headquarters, it was explained. It was also mentioned that most of the mission members experienced fainting and loss of balance after supper before being sent to the hospital.

According to the report approved by the hospital and given to the mission members, it was discovered following the necessary analyses inside the hospital that inhaling a narcotic substance is what causes the body to lose its equilibrium and results in a state of fainting and dizziness.

The club expressed its displeasure over the manner the team’s mission received, spoke of the difficulties he had in Tanzania, and claimed that no free stadiums were offered for practise or transit, nor were the results of the Kofid-19s given to them.

The Speaker of Parliament, Aqila Saleh, called on the Libyan Football Association to follow up on investigations into the incident of poisoning the Al-Akhdar Club mission in Tanzania and take the necessary measures to ensure its safety after Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Al-Dubba, the Minister of Sports, called for following what the Al-Akhdar team in Tanzania was exposed to and its exiles with the procedures taken.

In response, the Ministry of Sports in the government of national unity strongly condemned the treatment that the Libyan Al-Akhdar club delegation received in a statement and urged the Ministries of Sports in Tanzania and the African Football Confederation to launch inquiries into the incident.

The Libyan Football Association is under pressure to postpone the match with Tanzanian club Azzam that is scheduled for Sunday night until the team’s health situation improves.
The “Libyan Green” team had achieved an important victory in the first leg of the preliminary round of the championship in Benghazi, over the Tanzani team, 3-0..
