Al-Sennari Archaeological House to host ‘200 Years Since Deciphering the Rosetta Stone’ symposium on Oct. 20

CAIRO – 16 October 2022: In Al-Sennari Archaeological House, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina will host a symposium on October 20 at 6 p. m. with the theme “200 Years Since Deciphering the Rosetta Stone.”
The symposium revolves around the discovery and deciphering of the Rosetta Stone, and the establishment of Egyptology, a historical event that revealed the details of the Egyptian civilization and its secrets that were mysterious for centuries until the discovery of the Rosetta Stone in 1799 AD.

Years later, Jean-François Champollion, a young Frenchman, was able to translate it.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is commemorating the two hundredth anniversary of decoding the hieroglyphic script of the ancient Egyptian language, and this symposium is part of their celebrations as well as their interest in promoting culture.

On October 20, the Al-Sennari Archaeological House will organise a conference titled “200 Years Since Deciphering the Rosetta Stone.”
