New community family resource program opened in Kingston, Ont.

At the Kingston Community Health Centres, parents, kids, and staff members met on Saturday for the official launch of a new family support programme.
Families with children up to age six and those expecting children delighted as officials unveiled their new initiative, branded “a great start for families” (Kahwà:tsire Ronwatiyenawá:se in Mohawk).
We sought to create an all-encompassing community partnership.

About 40 service providers are already arriving and departing, according to Lousanne Rode, manager of Family and Children’s Services.
The City of Kingston, the United Way KFL&A, and Family and Children’s Services are all sponsors of the programme.
It’s designed to provide parents access to all the services they may need, while also giving their children a safe place to learn and play nearby with kids their own age.

“We have medical, social, educational, employment, and financial services, such Ontario Works and the Ontario Disability Support Program,” continued Rode.
The mother of Ben, a boisterous four-year-old, is Bonnie Robinson.
She expressed her excitement for the show.

“Oh, it’s fantastic, it’s like a one-stop shop and you can go in and there’s really lovely people working here and it’s a wonderful space for kids to have a space to run and play, and talk to the people that you need to talk to,” said Robinson.
In addition to what they already have in place, according to Rode, they’re eager to hear from families and clients about their experiences with the programme in order to improve it and tailor it to the requirements of the people it serves.

The main objective of the programme, according to her, is to transform struggling families into thriving ones.

In Kingston, Ontario, a new community initiative for family resources has begun.
