According to Canadian Prime Minister Christia Freeland, the Canadian government and its allies demanded that Russia leave Ukraine, where the northern state is pushing to completely exclude it from the international community by terminating its membership in the International Monetary Fund and the Group of Twenty.
Freeland, who is of Ukrainian descent, told reporters that the IMF and World Bank meetings are gatherings of ministers and governors of central banks, whose responsibility it is to safeguard the world economy. Bloomberg, quoting Freeland, said that there is one immediate step that will eliminate major unrest in the global economy, help reduce food shortages, and help with the high cost of energy in many parts of the world, which is that Russia leave Ukraine.
