Evers, Michels meet Friday in only governor’s race debate

MIDDLEBURG (WBAY) – Friday at 7 p.m., the first and only debate for governor of Wisconsin.
Recent polling shows that Republican candidate businessman Tim Michels and Democratic governor Tony Evers are virtually tied. And like the U.S. Senate election, this one has received a lot of negative attention.
In addition to criticising Evers for his response to the Kenosha riots, Michels has turned the election into a discussion about crime.

Additionally, he said that Evers delayed opening the state during the COVID-19 pandemic, which had a negative impact on public schools.
Meanwhile, Evers has concentrated on abortion and claims that without his veto power, the Republican-controlled Legislature would enact a number of extremist laws.
“Every single one of the radical bills that I rejected will be brought back and passed into law, significantly limiting access. Again, polling tells us, Roe v. Wade has always been supported,” Gov. Evers said.

“At this time, the people of Wisconsin are suffering under Governor Evers’ leadership. At a news conference, Michels stated, “He is not supporting law enforcement and he is betraying the hard-working, tax-paying residents of Wisconsin.
A chance for one of these candidates to sway voters who are still unsure exists in the statewide audience of the debate being conducted in Madison.

The election was statistically even, according to a Marquette University Law School poll issued on Wednesday, despite Michels’ recent gains among independent voters.
The one-hour debate starts at 7 P. M. and you can watch it on WBAY-TV 2 and here on WBAY. com..

In the sole governor’s race debate, Evers and Michels will meet on Friday.
