The Youth Group and the October Bomb …

The youth group is the spearhead of the armed uprising in Somalia, which has been in chaos since 1991 and has a bloody history to die for. Its most well-known attack was the assault on a hotel in the capital of Somalia, which was carried out by the group and resulted in the deaths of numerous mandates.

The car bomb attack in a busy Mogadishu area in October 2017—which left more than 500 dead—was the worst in Somalia’s recent history. A youth organisation was accused of carrying it out.
According to journalist Mohamed Omar Bakai, who was hurt in the explosion, “the catastrophe was a tragedy that is difficult to forget,” it is difficult for the Somalis to forget the day of October 14.

“Bakai, who was in the mosque of the “Safari” hotel, which was destroyed in the explosion, stated that he was getting ready to pray Asr with other worshipers when the blast happened, and several of his companions saw the dead and injured.
Senior public servants, five volunteer paramedics, a journalist, an American man of Somali descent, a student at the faculty of medicine, and 15 kids were among the casualties.

For more than 15 years, the youth wing of Al Qaeda has carried out strikes in an effort to destroy the precarious Mogadishu central authority.
Before they became a part of it in full in 2012, it declared its loyalty to al-Qaeda in 2010. In 2008, the US State Department designated a group as a terrorist organisation.
Since Ahmed Abdi Godan was killed by an American hit in September 2014, the group’s commander Ahmed Omar Derry, also known as “Abu Ubaidah,” has been in power.
