Washington is looking with the European Union to impose the ceiling on Russian oil prices

The US Treasury announced that the Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen discussed with its counterparts from the euro and the European Union to set the ceiling for the price of Russian oil.
The American Ministry said in a statement on Friday that it was looking into the economic effects of the crisis in Ukraine.

The minister “emphasised the significance of defining the ceiling for Russian oil price with a view to stabilising energy markets and reducing Russian imports,” the statement continued.
Yellen also emphasised the “need to step up efforts to offer Ukraine economic aid.”
Following the inclusion of the four preceding Ukrainian regions, the European Union slapped the eighth set of sanctions against Russia.

The key components of the new plan are limitations on trade worth 7 billion euros and a cap on the price of Russian oil.
