Grusi: We made progress on the establishment of a safe area around Zaburigia

News from Al-Madinah: The creation of a safe region around the Zaburigia nuclear power station has advanced, according to Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
In a tweet posted to his Twitter account today, Thursday, he clarified this and included a photo of himself and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimtero Coleba.
Grusi had previously confirmed to reporters that the situation on the Zaburigia nuclear power plant is still “worrying”.

After his trip to Russia, he continued in his speech in Kyiv by saying that “nothing has changed.”
Grusi made note of the IAEA’s ongoing pressure to create a demilitarised zone surrounding the nuclear power plant, which would prohibit “attacks against the station and the use of the station as a weapon of attack.

According to the Associated Press, he added that the agency thinks the Russians want to offer security because they are “working with him.”
But Grusi made it clear that he has yet received any indications of Russian President Vladimir Putin indicating his willingness to discuss the final “standards” with the International Atomic Energy Agency that would allow a safe solution to the largest nuclear power plant in Europe during the war.

Notably, the situation surrounding the huge nuclear plant has drawn attention on a global scale over the past few months, particularly in light of the bombing exchange between Russian and Ukrainian forces. In order to prevent any unthinkable nuclear tragedy, the International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly emphasised how critical the situation is and called for the creation of a “security area.”

The largest nuclear energy facility in all of Europe, the station has been in Russian control since early March, although Moscow and Kayef have traded claims of bombing it for months.

This complex was a key component of Ukraine’s electricity supply since it guaranteed that station, which serves more than 20% of the country’s electrical requirements and is situated on the southern side of a sizable tank on the Denbero River, which divides the armies of Russia and Ukraine.
