Iran’s official: Russian gas can be pumped to Turkey and Iraq

Iranian Deputy Minister of Oil, Ahmed Asadzadeh, stated that the Russian gas in the framework of the swap agreement with Iran could be directed to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan and other countries.
According to the Iranian official, only northern Iran could potentially receive 50 million cubic metres of Russian gas each day.

“Negotiations have taken place and the two parties exchanged agreements,” the official said in an interview with the “Novosti” news agency today. “I hope that we can receive gas from Russia through the northern part of our country. There are only a few implementation issues that will be resolved soon.

Then, this gas can be transferred to other nations in the region as part of a supply swap, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, and Iraq. It can also be sent to southern Iran for export to the Gulf states, which also need gas, as well as to nations like Pakistan and other nations.
According to the Iranian deputy oil minister, Iran may provide numerous models for cooperation with Russia in this area, including commerce and transportation.

An earlier memorandum of understanding between the Iranian National Oil Company and the Russian firm “Gazprom” called for investments totaling $40 billion in Iranian oil and gas reserves.
