The Minister of Culture mourns the wife of the poet Ahmed Abdel -Moaty Hijazi

Suhair Abdel-Fattah, the wife of the legendary poet Ahmed Abdel-Moaty Hijazi and the editor-in-chief of the Childhood and Development Magazine, passed away in our world yesterday evening, was called by Professor Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture.

Known as one of the forerunners of the renewal movement in contemporary Arabic poetry, Ahmed Abdel-Moaty Hijazi is an Egyptian poet and critic who was born in 1935 in the Menoufia Governorate of Egypt. He has translated portions of his poetry into French, English, Russian, Spanish, Italian, and German. In 1989, he was given the Greek Greek Favis Award; in 1996, he was given the African Poetry Award; and in 1997, the Supreme Council of Culture presented him with the State Appreciation Award in the Arts.
