The responsible Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad al-Sudani, vowed to hold local and parliamentary elections under a transparent electoral process that satisfies all of the rivals in a free and fair environment, as required by Iraqi political circles.
The responsible Iraqi Prime Minister emphasised that “our country’s sovereignty must be maintained” and that “we will not tolerate intervention in our domestic matters.”
Abdul Latif Rashid, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, was elected by the House of Representatives as president of the republic on Thursday, and through two rounds of voting, the House of Representatives was able to designate the largest parliamentary bloc to submit its candidate to form the cabinet.
Abdul Latif Rashid, the new president of Iraq, said on Thursday that Muhammad Shi’a Al-Sudani will be tasked with forming the country’s new cabinet after taking the constitutional oath in front of the Iraqi parliament. This was one of Rashid’s first official acts as president.
Following his selection, the Sudanese member of Parliament declared his desire to quickly establish a government.
