Off-duty police officer among five dead in US shooting

Today’s neighbourhood shooting in North Carolina left five people dead.
According to the mayor of Raleigh, Mary-Ann Baldwin, who spoke at a press conference this afternoon, one of the victims was a police officer who was not on duty.
A police officer is one of the two other patients at the hospital.
Baldwin added that police had located the alleged shooter at a house and had trapped him.
Police announced shortly after that the subject was currently in their custody.

On Thursday evening (local time), at around 5 o’clock, someone started firing at individuals using a nature route.
The shooting suspect is a Caucasian male teen, according to ABC 11.
Gov. Roy Cooper tweeted during the earlier incident, “State and local officers are on the ground and trying to stop the shooter and keep people safe.”

The Raleigh Police Department said it was “on the scene of an active shooting” in a statement on Twitter, and advised residents in multiple neighbourhoods to stay in their homes.
Numerous police vehicles and an ambulance were dispatched to the location, which was northeast of downtown Raleigh, according to WRAL-TV.
