Police officer among multiple dead in US shooting

Following a shooting in a North Carolina neighbourhood today, “four or five other persons” in addition to one police officer are dead.
The shooting suspect is a Caucasian male teen, according to ABC 11.
According to several news outlets, the guy was arrested about 1:15 p.m. NZ time.
The alleged shooter is reportedly being cornered by police in a barn, though authorities later stressed there is no suspect in custody.
Soon, there will be a press conference from the police.

“State and local officers are on the ground and working to stop the shooter and keep people safe,” Gov. Roy Cooper tweeted as the shooting unfolded earlier.
In a tweet, the Raleigh Police Department said that it was “on the scene of an active shooting” and instructed locals to remain inside their houses.

No other information was immediately available, but at least three victims connected to the incident were receiving treatment Thursday evening (local time) at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, according to a hospital spokesperson, Deb Laughery.
Numerous police vehicles and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene, northeast of downtown Raleigh, according to WRAL-TV.
Associated Press contributed further reporting.

A police officer was one of many victims in the US shooting.
