Gayardo announces the end of his beautiful story with River Plate

After working with the team for eight years, the Argentine coach Marcelo Gayardo announced that he will quit when his contract expires in December.
Gayardo, whose tenure at River Plate was among the most prosperous, claimed to have discussed his decision with the club’s board of directors on Wednesday. He also stated that his contract with the team expires in December. One of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made is this one.

I am here to thank the folks who put their trust in me after making the choice public.
Gayardo joined River in May 2014, played for the club for 14 seasons, won 14 titles with them, including seven continental titles, and won the Argentine League in 2021.
2014 Copa Suda Cuba Champion, 2015, 2018, and 2019 Cuba Libertadores were won by River over his longtime foe Boca Juniors.

Before the team’s final game of the season against Rissing Club on Sunday, Gayardo will be at River’s renowned Monomontal Stadium playing Rosario Central.
I’ll end our relationship in the greatest possible way, he continued. My final game at Monomontal Stadium will be on Sunday, and I want to thank the supporters for their love and support throughout the years. It was a lovely tale.
River and Boca Juniors, whose match has been postponed, are tied for second place in the Argentine league with four points each.

Gayardo declares the conclusion of his heartwarming tale with River Plate.
