Germany: A noticeable decline in gas consumption in homes and small companies

In Germany, small businesses and average household consumption both fell sharply last week compared to the same time last year.
Today, Thursday, the Federal Networks Agency in Bonn City reported that the daily gas consumption rate had fallen by 29% from the same assessment week between 2018 and 2021 to an average of 571 GB/hour.
The huge gas companies’ consumption was not included in the agency’s statistic.

For his part, agency chief Klaus Muller observed that the recent period’s comparatively warm weather was to blame for the decrease in gas usage.
Even with the cold conditions, Klaus emphasised the necessity to continue rationalising consumption.
