HFX Wanderers say goodbye to coach Stephen Hart after another poor season

Following a dismal campaign, the HFX Wanderers made the announcement that head coach Stephen Hart is leaving the Canadian Premier League squad.
The Wanderers will place seventh out of eight teams in the regular season, missing the playoffs for the second straight year. Atletico Ottawa is 20 points ahead of them right now in the standings.

Derek Martin, the team’s founder and president, claimed in a release on Thursday that he had spoken with Hart on Wednesday to inform him that “new leadership at our football club was needed.”
“Stephen handled this conversation with the same class and dignity he has displayed while representing our club for the past five years, and I am forever grateful to him for helping our club get off the ground and for his immense contributions to the sport in Atlantic Canada,” Martin said.

In 2018, the Wanderers’ debut season in the Canadian Premier League, Hart served as the team’s first head coach.
After Halifax advanced to the league championship in what became known as “The Island Games” after a season that had been cut short by COVID-19 in 2020, Hart was voted the CPL Coach of the Year.
Martin stated in the statement that the hunt for a new head coach has begun and that he anticipates strong candidates to emerge.

According to him, Halifax is the best job in Canadian soccer because of its devoted fans, grass field, roster freedom, and intriguing future plans for the Wanderers Grounds.
The squad encourages applicants from Canada and other countries to submit “to lead our club into the future.”

Stephen Hart is fired as HFX Wanderers’ coach following yet another unsuccessful campaign.
