Beijing calls on Washington to meet it in the middle of the road and reform relations

The Chinese government accused the United States on Thursday of engaging in “Cold War thinking” and calling for efforts to defuse tense relations after US President Joe Biden released a national security strategy calling for a “external competition” and impeding its attempts to reshape international affairs.

After US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated that the US will reinforce global supply networks for “geopolitical pressure” by China, Russia, and other nations, the Chinese Foreign Ministry accused Washington of commercial protectionism, according to the “Associated Press.”

Speaking on behalf of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning added that it was unpopular and ineffective to “(practise) the Cold War thinking, zero-sum games, stir up the sense of geopolitical disputes and the struggle of the great powers.”
Washington also urged Beijing to “strengthen Chinese-American relations in the middle of the road and return to a good and stable route.

These claims follow the Biden Document’s Wednesday accusation that China was attempting to “slaughter American alliances. She called for “China Competition Externally” in political alliances and “global governance”, in addition to business, technology and military affairs.

The White House document also called on the United States to “preserve a competitive advantage” on China, which sparked the enmity of Japan and India and other neighbors with an increasingly firm external policy and a growing army.
The fact that American-Chinese ties are at their lowest points in decades and are tense because of divergent views on technology, security, Taiwan, and human rights issues is notable.

Beijing requests that Washington meet with it in the middle and restructure relations.
