Egypt’s Prime Minister demands immediate recompense for the families of church fatalities.

Following the massive fire that occurred this morning, Sunday, and resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries, Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly confirmed that immediate compensation will be paid to the families of the victims of the Al-Munira Church fire, as well as the restoration of its buildings.

In remarks to him from the scene of the accident, he indicated that the state reacted fast and with all of its gadgets, as the Ministry of Interior worked to secure the site and the civil protection personnel performed their duties.

He stated that the firefighters made significant efforts to combat, stop, and limit the spread of the fire before it became out of control, especially given that the church is located in a popular, densely populated area, and revealed that a number of civil protection personnel were injured in the accident and are currently receiving treatment in hospitals.

He also confirmed that, upon learning of the incident, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the government to take immediate action to support the victims’ families and provide medical care to the injured, noting that he had taken immediate action with the Ministers of Health, Social Solidarity, Local Development, and the Governor of Giza, and that the church website had been visited. It should be noted that the cause of the fire that killed 41 persons and wounded 14 others at the Abu Sefein Church in Imbaba’s working-class district has yet to be identified.
Early investigations showed that the event was caused by a short circuit, according to the police statement.
