Moscow: Including Kyiv to NATO may ignite a third global war

Russia has reissued its threats of annexing Ukraine amid the rising support for Kiev among NATO members.
Alexander Venedictov, the Russian deputy secretary of the Security Council, predicted today, Thursday, that approving Ukraine’s NATO membership would trigger a third global war.
In an interview with a Russian news outlet, he further stated, “Kyiv is well aware that such a move will inevitably lead to the outbreak of a third world war.

“But he thought, “Perhaps this is what Ukrainian officials rely on to generate a media commotion and draw attention to themselves again.
He also repeated his country’s previous positions, that helping the West to the Ukrainian forces in this huge size indicates that it is a “direct party in the conflict.

“Moscow has consistently forewarned against the lavishness of Western nations, especially the United States, on Kiev, forewarning that these supplies bring the direct armed conflict between them and the alliance countries.
According to reports, member states have welcomed Ukraine and Georgia’s aspirations to join the Alliance since the 2008 Alliance Summit, but they have declined to provide a specific timeline for the two countries’ future membership.

However, recent military developments and the escalation of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, particularly after Russia annexed 4 regions of Ukraine last September (2022), have prompted many nations to call on the alliance to take this action, which needs agreement and entails a number of intricate and protracted procedures that take years.
