Joe Biden: Putin has insulted the ability of his forces to occupy Ukraine

US President Joe Biden stressed on Tuesday that his Russian counterpart, Fledimer Putin, “has offended” his forces’ ability to occupy Ukraine, and “his accounts were completely wrong” with regard to the resistance he was expected to face.
In a rare broadcast interview, the president discussed how his administration was trying to find a way to get Putin to stop escalating the invasion of Ukraine before he turned to using weapons of mass devastation.

“I believe he is a reasonable individual who has offended badly.” Biden said to CNN.
In blunt and extraordinary warnings this week about the dangers of Putin’s covert threats to use nuclear weapons to aid Moscow in annexing substantial portions of Ukraine, Biden forewarned that the world might be facing tragedy.
After the Russian president suffered a string of military setbacks in the invasion he began in February, there was much talk about Putin’s mental state.

In comments published by CNN before broadcasting the interview on Tuesday, Biden said that while Putin is believed to be a rational person, he reduced the ferocity of the Ukrainian resistance.
Putin “believed that he would be met with arms,” the president continued, “and I think his account was entirely false.”
