The Turkish Energy Minister comments on the proposal of Putin to establish a huge gas center in Turkey

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Donmes, commented on the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the pumping of gas lost through the “Northern Seal” to Europe through Turkish territory.
During his participation in the “Russian Energy Week” symposium held in Moscow, the Turkish minister stated: “This is the first time we hear this suggestion (which President Putin spoke about today).

He emphasised that Turkey does not experience problems with its Russian gas supplies and noted that 70% of Turkey’s energy needs are met by imports.
He emphasised that it is currently impossible for the globe to abandon old energy sources and noted that “the transition to clean and green energy may take an extra 100 years.”

Before that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that by establishing a “gas centre,” Russia could pump the amounts of gas that Europe lost due to the “northern torrent” damage to European countries across Turkey. He made this claim during a speech at the plenary session of the “Russian Energy Week” forum. He claims that this solution is both economically feasible and highly secure.
