CAIRO – 12 October 2022: On October 19, Sotheby’s International Auctions in London will organise an auction focusing on “Arts of the Middle East.”
The works of numerous Arab plastic artists, including Egyptian artists, will be included in the sale.
An untitled painting by Egyptian artist Gazbia Sirry, which features the Christian cross, is one of the works for sale. The price range for the painting is between £6,000 and £8,000.
Sirry belonged to a female artist collective that rose to fame in the 1950s.
She has reacted to changes in Egypt’s political, social, and creative environments during the course of her 60-year career.
She is admired for both her vibrant canvases and her tenacious endurance in the occasionally turbulent Egyptian art scene.
Sotheby’s is selling a painting by Egyptian artist Gazbia Sirry.
