Watch: Electric flying taxi takes to the sky in Dubai

Yesterday in Dubai, a Chinese company tested out an electric flying taxi, providing a peek of the futuristic technology that may one day carry people around busy cities above all other traffic.
Numerous flying car concepts are being developed all around the world, including the XPeng X2, which was created by the aviation division of the Guangzhou-based XPeng Inc.
Only a small number have undergone successful passenger testing, and it will probably be years before any are ever placed into use.

The business claims that although yesterday’s presentation used an empty cockpit, a manned flying test was actually conducted in July 2021.
The two-passenger, sveltely built vehicle is propelled by a pair of eight propellers. Its top speed, according to the company, is 130 km/h (80 mph).
Unlike airplanes and helicopters, eVTOL, or “electric vertical takeoff and landing,” vehicles offer quick point-to-point personal travel, at least in principle.

The pilot-less vehicles could one day ferry passengers across town high above congested roadways. However, the industry still confronts significant difficulties, including as battery life, safety and air traffic control concerns, and infrastructural problems.

In Dubai, an electric flying taxi takes to the skies.
