The Yemeni Commission of Inquiry stresses the need to adhere to the rules of international humanitarian law

The International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law applicable rules must be followed, according to the National Committee to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations in Yemen.

The committee urged local and international groups involved in humanitarian relief to supply aid, particularly basic supplies like water, relief supplies, and gas, to ease the suffering of citizens in Taiz Governorate, according to a statement carried by (Yemen) satellite station today.

The committee reported that today, a team from the committee descended directly into the seam-area neighbourhoods in the Sala district of Taiz governorate, which had been the scene of several accidents over the previous two months, the most recent of which resulted in the amputation of limbs and the mutilation of two girls due to a mine explosion, in order to complete the procedures for investigating the facts and circumstances of violations and to determine responsibility.

A team from the committee listened to residents’ and victims’ accounts about artillery shelling and sniper attacks, examined civilian casualties and losses, and looked into the destruction of hundreds of homes and other buildings used by civilians.

The Yemeni Commission of Inquiry emphasises the significance of abiding by international humanitarian law.
