Tesla competes with the “domestic and foreign” adults in Germany

In order to meet a new goal it has set for itself, this time in Germany, Tesla has to sell twice as many electric or hybrid vehicles as Toyota in the remaining months of 2022. According to Automobilwoche, Tesla sold over 25,000 electric vehicles between January and August of this year, an increase of around 37% year over year. Despite this, Tesla only has a 1.5% market share in Germany and a 16.5% percent of the automotive industry.

Battery-powered cars, in the United States, account for 6% of the US market as a whole, and account for 66% of the electric vehicle market.

In order to reach its objective, Tesla will need to sell 50,000 vehicles, which means it will likely outsell Toyota. However, if it manages to sell 80,000 electric vehicles, it will start to compete with other foreign brands with a strong reputation in Germany, including Ford, Hyundai, and others. This development would result in a 150% increase in total unit sales in the final four months of the year.

The massive factory in Berlin may aid Tesla in achieving its objective by introducing new, reasonably priced vehicles that, over time, will likely raise demand. The objective is still lofty, and Tesla is still considered a luxury brand in Germany, where the Model Y is priced at nearly 70,000 euros. Compared to the Statista estimate of 38,000 euros as the average automobile price.

With Germany having the largest economy in Europe and having giant automakers like BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi, the German auto market is one of the most challenging in the world. However, Tesla does not consider itself a small company given its impressive success in the world with its electric cars, and it is aiming to make the most of its factory in the capital, Berlin.

In Germany, Tesla competes with “local and foreign” adults.
