The United States is studying Haiti’s request for increased support to address its humanitarian and security situation

The Haitian administration has requested more funding to address the deteriorating security and health conditions there, according to an announcement made by the US State Department today, Saturday.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said, “We are closely following the deteriorating health and security situation in Haiti, notably the persistent efforts by criminal actors that obstruct taking quick action to address the threat posed by the spread of cholera among the Haitian populace.”

Price added that in order to address gasoline shortages and security concerns that are obstructing the flow of humanitarian goods and efforts to stop the spread of cholera, the Haitian government has asked for more assistance from the United States.

Since closing the country’s main gasoline platform last month, which caused the entire paralysis of basic utilities, water, and food supplies, Haiti has publicly asked outside military assistance to combat the violence committed by organised gangs.
Due to the “danger of a huge humanitarian crisis,” the Haitian government has given Prime Minister Ariel Henry the go-ahead to formally request military aid from foreign nations.

One of the world’s poorest nations, Haiti, has seen numerous crises, including the murder of the former president Jovenel Moise last year and a devastating earthquake that killed 2,200 people a few weeks later.

The request for further assistance from Haiti to address its humanitarian and security crisis is being examined by the United States.
