The Hill: Biden’s warning of a nuclear war over Russia complicates the conflict

According to the American daily The Hill, US President Joe Biden’s predictions of a nuclear warfare and the arrival of “Armageddon,” the final clash between good and evil before the end of the world, from the Ukrainian battlefields have complicated the conflict’s already complex image. The situation has persisted for eight months.
During his Thursday visit at a Democratic Party fundraiser, Biden delivered a stern warning.

However, when asked on Friday if there had been any fresh intelligence findings that had caused Biden to “increase the level of alarm,” White House press secretary Karen Jean-Pierre responded, “No.
Instead of actually predicting a nuclear assault, Jean-Pierre tried to depict the president’s remarks as a general warning about the risks of escalation and a response to threats from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The press secretary informed reporters on board Air Force One to Hagerstown, Maryland, “We have seen no need to modify our strategic nuclear posture, and we have no signs that Russia is ready to deploy nuclear weapons imminently.”
The discussion over Biden’s remarks, which centred on whether the president’s words are out of control with intelligence assessments and if the White House should refute them, was viewed by the newspaper as being in many respects a classic in Washington.

But the journal continued, “The wider picture is the most significant and obvious,” noting that Ukraine had made progress against Russian forces recently, taking back vast swaths of land that had been under Putin’s control.
Since the Kremlin began the military assault in February, such victories have had the impact of making Putin more desperate and prepared to support the kinds of actions not before deployed.
