Movement on the Crimean Bridge stopped after a fire caused by a car bomb

The primary structure and emblem of Russia’s annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula by the same name, as declared by the Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee without blaming Ukraine, was stopped in its tracks by a sizable fire brought on by a car bomb explosion.
Online videos of the bridge show a fallen portion of the road and the train engulfed in flames along many metres.
The bridge was extensively destroyed by the explosion.

The explosion happened following a “vehicle explosion,” according to the Russian Investigative Committee, which stated that it had “initiated a criminal inquiry into the accident on the Crimean bridge.”
Seven railway tank trucks travelling to the Crimean peninsula were set on fire by an explosion of a car bomb that occurred today at 06:07 (03:07 GMT) on a road stretch of the Crimean Bridge.

The bridge’s arch was unaffected, according to the Counter-Terrorism Committee, which stated that “two road lanes have partially fallen.”
Putin had directed the creation of a government inquiry to ascertain the facts, a Kremlin spokeswoman told RIA Novosti.
Rail and road traffic had been stopped, and ferries had been built up to allow passage, according to Russian news sources.

The primary investigative authority in the nation, the Russian Investigative Committee, vowed to track down “all persons connected to this crime” and launched a criminal inquiry.
Vladimir Konstantinov, the head of the Russian-instituted Crimean parliament, denounced the damage done by “Ukrainian saboteurs.”
Ukraine has not responded, although Andrei Ermak, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, tweeted an emoji of a bridge in a smoky background.

Another assistant to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Mikhailo Podolyak, stated on Twitter that “anything unlawful must be destroyed and everything stolen must be restored to Ukraine.”
An image of a violent explosion from the bridge’s surveillance camera was released on Telegram by Kirill Strimosov, a representative of the Russian occupation force in the Crimean-bordering Ukrainian region of Kherson.
The repairs might take “two months,” he warned.

This bridge is required for the transportation of military stationed in Ukraine as well as persons and cargo to the peninsula.
2018 saw the bridge’s opening. It crosses the Kerch Strait and, in 2014, came to represent annexation.
Despite the conflict in Ukraine, Russia insists that the bridge is secure, but has previously threatened Kyiv with punishment if Ukrainian forces target this or other infrastructure in Crimea.

Following a fire started by a vehicle bomb, traffic on the Crimean Bridge was suspended.
