Iraqi parliament condemns attempt to assassinate a deputy in Basra Governorate

Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, the first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, denounced the attempt on the life of a deputy in the Basra Governorate.
In a statement that was relayed by (Alsumaria) News this evening, the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament said, “We condemn and denounce the assassination attempt against a member of the Iraqi Parliament, Faleh Al-Khazali, in the Basra Governorate.

“Representative Faleh Al-Khazali, as well as the recent attempts made against a number of religious and national personalities in the Basra Governorate.
Al-Mandalawi urged the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to uphold the law and root out those who wish to destroy our beloved nation.

Faleh Al-Khazali, a representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance, was stopped by an armed group in Basra Governorate and forced into a fight. The group tried to kill him with a weapon but was thwarted by his own security.

The Basra Governorate attempted assassination of a lawmaker, which the Iraqi parliament condemns.
