Zelensky announces seizure of Russian assets worth $765 million

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the confiscation of Russian assets worth about $765 million, and that more than 900 sites are to be seized in addition.

In a video speech, Zelensky indicated that he had held a meeting on sanctions and confiscation of Russian assets, and that officials had informed him of the sources of assets worth 28 billion hryvnia ($765 million).

He added, “This work is continuing, and there is a proposal to confiscate more than 900 Russian state sites. If we estimate the properties of residents, and not just the (Russian) state, then there will be 36,000 items on the list, subject to confiscation.”

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyal announced that the government had proposed to the president the confiscation of 903 sites of Russian property.
