Historic precedent.. The appointment of the first woman to a leading position in the German Navy

The German Navy announced the promotion of a woman to a senior position in the Navy, setting a historical precedent.
On Friday, Captain Corvette Victoria Kitsmann, 36, was named head of the teaching group (C) at the School of Naval Technology in Barov, close to the Baltic city of Stralsund.

Sven Jansen, a school captain, stated that this selection was not unusual, adding, “I believe it’s excellent that our school has taken the initiative in appointing the first female commander of the Navy.
The work that recruits do while being led by a woman as a battalion commander when they first join the armed forces will affect perceptions in the years to come, according to Jansen, who also added that the Teaching Group (C) is a basic training unit that lays the foundation for the careers of recruits.
