European Commission: Reaching collective gas purchase deals is a necessity

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, urged on Friday that collective gas purchase agreements be reached by spring to “prevent running out of our inventories.”
She made this statement in her speech at a gathering of the “European Political Community” in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic: “We are acting swiftly to curb Russia’s gains, and we have made progress in negotiations of the energy price ceiling.”

Considering that “what happened in the two Nord Stream gas pipelines is a threat that we must become accustomed to,” she continued, “We will continue to compel Putin to pay the price for the aggression against Ukraine.”

European Commission: It is essential to reach agreements on collective gas purchases.
