Mass demonstration against rising electricity prices in Warsaw

Today, Friday, there was a sizable protest against the country’s rising electricity prices in Wasa, the capital of Poland. Near the Polish parliament, there were several hundred people there, many of whom were local government officials from various parts of Poland.
Posters reading “Government is turning cities dark,” “PIS (Poland’s ruling party) = darkness,” and “Expenses are going up, prices are going up – we can’t bear this anymore” were carried by the demonstrators.

Protesters are against increased energy costs for municipal governments. They claim that prices for electricity have increased by at least 700% since last year.

Warsaw saw a large-scale protest against the growing cost of power.
