The White House praised Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks about the potential of a prisoner swap between Russia and the United States, calling them “excellent news.”
According to US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby, Lavrov emphasised that they are interested in evaluating the prospect of more measures in this area, which is encouraging.
He went on to say, “We hope that they have taken a serious approach this time, and that we will be able to discover the options to go forward with regard to the repatriation of Britney,” referring to basketball star Britney Grainer, who is serving a 9-year jail sentence in Russia for drug smuggling.
The White House is encouraged by Lavrov’s remarks on the prisoner swap between Moscow and Washington.
