Russia imposes sanctions on 62 Canadian citizens

In reaction to Canada’s prior sanctions against Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry has issued penalties against 62 Canadian persons.
In a statement issued today, Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Canadians whose names are on the Russian sanctions list will be barred from visiting Russian territory.

According to the ministry statement, the State Department took into account the degree of antagonism that defines Justin Trudeau’s administration, which is engaged in hostile acts against the Russian world and traditional values.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that this is not the final list of penalties, and that further actions would be revealed at a later date.

Moscow’s decision is in response to Canadian sanctions imposed on Russia on June 27 and July 7 in the context of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, which affected a number of Russian officials, journalists, and specialists, as well as Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.

Russia has sanctioned 62 Canadian people.
