Merkel: It is important to take the statements about the Ukraine war seriously

Angela Merkel, a former German chancellor, emphasised the need of not brushing off warnings made during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a farce.
Additionally, Merkel referred to the Russian military campaign in Ukraine as a “deep turning moment” at a Munich ceremony commemorating the publishing of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” for 77 years.

She also cautioned that it is important that “we all take the statements seriously, handle them carefully, and not categorise them as hoaxes from the outset” at that time.
Merkel emphasised that only Russia’s involvement can lead to enduring peace in Europe.
The seasoned politician declared that the Cold War wasn’t truly finished as long as we couldn’t accomplish it.
