Italy: Ten people poisoned by eating a poisonous plant

Ten persons in Pozzuoli, in the province of Naples, were hospitalised after consuming the poisonous mandrake plant, according to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
The publication reported that they were given the lethal plant on the table disguised as spinach.
One of the victims was said to be in a critical condition, and the others were forced to seek medical attention because they were experiencing hallucinations, abdominal discomfort, and a serious decline in their health.

The ambulance crew received a warning from the nearby hospital that additional patients might show up.
The victims’ ages, as reported by the daily “Il Mattino,” varied from 12 to 85. They are from two households who may have purchased veggies from little stores close to their homes.
The Italian authorities investigated the circumstances around the widespread poisoning and seized numerous lots of greens from the province of Naples’ grocery outlets.

The supply chain will need to be tracked by law enforcement officials in order to find potentially harmful shipments.
