Southern Interior lottery offers chance to live the ‘Lake Life’

People have the opportunity to live on a lake thanks to a new lottery in the Southern Interior. The keys to a dream house in Lake Country are one of the rewards. The proceeds from the lottery will go toward two Okanagan nonprofits.
In 2016, Barb LeClair was involved in a major auto accident that left her with critical wounds and damaged nerves in her right arm. She underwent many operations at the Kelowna General Hospital, followed by recovery time at the neighbourhood YMCA.
“That was crucial for a very long time.

My life was saved, really. People there, experts there, and others saved my life, said LeClair.
In order to ensure that others in the Interior receive the same level of care she did, LeClair is sharing her story and collaborating with the Lake Life Lottery.
“There are thousands of other stories like mine, and they’re all different. Giving back to the community and showing gratitude are very important to me, LeClair added.

Together with the YMCA of Southern Interior BC, the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation (KGHF) created the Lake Life Lottery to raise money for community-based ongoing care.
YMCA of Southern Interior BC CEO Allyson Graf remarked, “We care about the health and wellness of communities and have done so for so many years.

“It’s incredibly synergistic to bring the two groups together for a common goal, especially to support people in the community, and it really speaks to our goals and how well they fit.”
A nearly two million dollar dream home in Lake Country, vacations, and expensive cars are among the prizes offered by the lottery. The Lake Life Lottery is the first of its type to provide the Southern Interior with immediate benefits.

According to KGHF CEO Allison Ramchuk, “We live in such a beautiful place, so it’s really exciting to be able to showcase the experience and the incredible lifestyle the Okanagan offers for people and to be able to pair that with something that’s going to bring such an incredible benefit to the health and wellbeing for people that do live here.”
LeClair exhorts people to support the lottery and advance medical services in the Interior.

According to LeClair, the funds will be used to help persons in need stay in the area as well as to fund activities and purchase tools that will benefit everyone from young children to senior citizens.
The lottery’s website now has tickets available, and the top rewards will be awarded in December.
